Beaujolais “Quatre Saisons” 2014,
Claire et Fabien Chasselay, France
If your sole experience with the wines of Beaujolais is Nouveau
from the flower-label producer, we are begging you to forget thatever happened. That bottle has done
more damage to the reputation of this lovely region than any other
and has turned many consumers away from discovering the joys
of proper Beaujolais.
And this is proper Beaujolais indeed! The wine jumps from the
glass like an excited puppy and is nearly as heartwarming. Thecombination of easy to understand aromas and flavors and
extreme finesse and class would be difficult to find at any price,
let alone under twenty bucks.
The Chasselay family can trace its roots in the region to 1418.
Just another day at the office for the ancient and great wine
producing country of France. The unique parcels of bothlimestone and granite soils provide the yin and the yang to the
fruit from organically farmed fifty-plus year old Gamay vines. The
winemaking is every bit as careful and exacting as the infinitely
more expensive Pinot Noir wines from neighbors to the north.
As mentioned above it takes absolutely no special skills to
appreciate this wine; but if are a enthusiast of experience we think
you will recognize the sheer energy and enjoyment in this bottle
immediately!
