─﹥ 巴黎的羅浮宮、倫敦的大笨鐘、紐約
的自由女神像、東京的迪士尼樂園、
雪梨的歌劇院……當你準備到一個嚮往的城市
旅行，總是捨不得錯過這些城市當中的知名旅

式，中國自古以來所謂的「趕集」就是農民趕著把
農產品拿去市場販售的形容詞，而故現今的農夫
市集就是效法以前的趕集精神，嘗試把過去先民
社會追求新鮮、在地、自然生產的市集形式，導
入現代的經營理念而已。
農夫市集，除了強調是當季與在地的農產品之
外，並且都是有機或自然農法栽培的，不使用
化學肥料、農藥，沒有化學添加物，既健康又環
保。當季鮮採的農作，不需要長時間的運輸，不
急著早收或搶收，蔬果可以在較成熟的時候摘
採，給消費者自然熟成的最好風味，省去運輸的
燃料也對地球更友善！沒有中間商的運銷費用，
更能將商品的價值利潤直接而且回饋給消費者及
辛勤的農夫。
帶著家中小朋友一起逛住家附近的農夫市集已
經是許多人假日的休閒活動了，因為在農夫市集
裡總是會有意想不到的收穫。農夫市集所販售產
品的意涵，不僅包含了農藝、園藝、森林、畜產、

而且農夫市集裡的產品，有許多可是市面上買不
到的喔！因為產量少，以往只是農場主或與其親
朋好友享用，然而在市集裡這些產品就成為消費
者的購物挖寶樂趣，並且可以直接與農家互動，
詢問了解農產品的生長或製作過程，不僅吃得安
心，也讓小朋友認識的蔬果不只是飯桌上的蔬果
而已，也更了解自己生長的這塊土地。
近年來的農夫市集，雖然還是以農民為主要的
銷售者，但也逐漸加入一些具地方特色的手工藝
製品製造者和藝術表演者，每個市集充分展現自
己的地方特色，也因此許多人每到一個城市，不
忘到農夫市集裡感受最在地的氛圍。
在宜蘭也有一個倡導「吃當地、吃在地、支持小
農、友善環境」的大宅院友善市集，除了新鮮自
然農產、友善農產加工品、手工藝品、二手物之
外還有迷你電影院、市集講座等每次不同主題的
呈現。市集偶有小朋友的音樂演奏增添溫馨的氣

In recent years Farmer’s Markets have grown, such that
although they remain predominantly filled with farmer as
vendors, they have evolved to include more and more local
cultural specialties and handcrafted products or cultural arts
performances, ensuring the spice of variety to local market
gatherings, so that when someone visits a new place, they
are immediately attracted to visit the area farmers markets
for a quintessential experience of the locality.

世界地球日．蔬食新饗宴─﹥除了宗教信仰之外，現代因為健康或是環保的因素減少肉
食的人越來越多，無肉日的推廣也逐漸形成一種趨勢。
肉類食物屬於酸性，吃過多的話造成酸性體質也是導致癌症的主
因，所以因為健康因素多吃屬於鹼性的蔬果少吃肉是一般人追求健
康的飲食改變方式。然而，減少肉食如何與環保相關呢?

日本的一項調查顯示，生產1kg牛肉會產生36.4kg的二氧化碳。一個以肉食
為主的人，平均一年因飲食所產生的二氧化碳約1500kg，以素食為主的人產生
400kg，約三倍。並且，生產1kg牛肉要投入8kg穀物、生產1kg豬肉則需3kg穀
物飼料，如果減少吃肉，就能減少穀物飼料的消耗。全球有60幾億人口，有600
多億是我們所吃的牲畜動物，全球排碳量牲畜佔51%，而牲畜所吃的穀物可以養活
全球20億人口！雖然吃肉只是平常的飲食習慣，但造就的這些數據可真是驚人呢！
愛地球已經不再是口號，而是人人該有的行動，全球各地的氣候異相已經向我們
展示大自然反撲的威力不容忽視。而且，每天少吃一點肉並不是甚麼難的舉動，何
樂而不為呢?
但是許多習慣葷食者，對於蔬食的草腥味總覺得

─﹥ 在台灣，打高爾夫球在既定印象中，似乎

Park Golf has been imported from Japan where the Japanese
International Park Golf Association accredits and promotes this
healthy sports activity as appropriate for all ages from middle school
through senior citizenship.
Compared to the typical sport of golf, this version’s equipment,
rules and facilities are much simpler, but it still manages to encompass
the spirit and significance of the game of golf, allowing close range
golf skills in a natural setting over 300 to 1000 meters, permitting
development of a full range of professional golf styles and attitudes.
Unrestrained by terrain, geography, or size constraints, allowing
complete natural interfaces with the existing environmental milieu
for placement of greens, bunkers or ponds… with integrated designs,
transporting the player into the middle of a professional course
but with the relaxed sense of a park-like atmosphere ensuring fun
enjoyment, perfect for young and old alike as the family exercise and
sport of the future.
The Chiao Hsi Royal will soon open its new SKY Park Golf Course
facilities over 1.56 sq. km., providing a unified course replete with
natural vistas and recreational facilities, perfect for enjoying this
completely new experience, even if you’ve never played golf before,
you’ll be able to have fun from the start, with a personal Park Gold
instructor to chaperone you into the exciting new world of Park
Golfing.

2009 to the present, it has become an important focal point of many our guests

稻鄉文化節圓滿落幕
─﹥ 今年到礁溪老爺過農曆年的旅客，在
李涼阿嬤的畫展中多感受了那麼一份
傳統的濃濃年味。礁溪老爺2010歷經春、
夏、秋、冬的稻鄉文化節，也在李涼阿嬤的
台灣民俗風景畫裡畫下圓滿的句點，也為兔
年開啟新春的氣息。
姑且不論旅客感受了多少我們希望呈現
的在地文化，我們自己倒是成長很多！從
春天的飯店裡實地插秧、每天呵護培植稻
作，到瞭解稻米的營養價值，夏天在宜蘭廣
闊的稻田裡揮汗如雨逐一插置550個稻草
人……。這些難忘的回憶將是最特別的飯店
工作經驗吧！
今年我們也將秉持著一貫的精神，挖掘更
多在地傳統而美好的人、事、物呈現給遠道
而來的旅客，除了給你們精彩的文創活動之

大飯店小智慧
─﹥ 大家入住飯店的時候對於窗明几淨
一塵不染大概只是最基本的要求，然
而，一家飯店動輒有上百個房間，除了工作
人員辛勤打掃之外，不動點小腦筋提高工作
效率的話可真是會累壞了大家呢！
礁溪老爺的飯店本體設計本著希望給房客
仿如置身室外的自然舒適感， 所以建築物充
滿了透明落地窗，而置身天然的環境所以飯
店周圍充滿飛行動物也是在所難免，但透明
玻璃窗就常常成為這些鳥兒排泄物的攻擊對
象了，除了日常的清理之外，飯店主管發揮
了小智慧，在建築物頂樓放置「老鷹風箏」
以嚇阻鳥兒太靠近的飛行，雖然不若杜拜帆
船飯店專門聘僱訓獸師與老鷹在建築物周圍
盤旋，不過倒也起了點作用，窗戶的髒汙確
實減少了。下次入住發現老鷹在頂樓飛翔的
話，可別被嚇著囉！

稻郷文化祭りが無事、閉幕
今年、礁溪ロイヤルにお越し頂き旧正月を過ごしたお客様は、李涼おばあちゃんの画展で、伝統的で味わいのある旧正月を感じることができたでしょう。礁溪ロイヤルの2010年は春夏秋冬通じて行った稲郷文化祭りや、李涼おばあちゃんの台湾民俗風景画が満足いく結果となり、ウサギ年へ新しい息を吹き込むことができました。 私たちも一貫した思いを持ちながら、地元の伝統的なすばらしい人や事、物などをより多く見つけ、遠路はるばるお越しいただいたお客様に提供しております。またすばらしい文化イベントを提供する以外に、私たち自身も新鮮な体験をしています！
ホテルの知恵袋
礁溪ロイヤルのホテル本体のデザインは宿泊客に室外に身を置いたような自然な気持ち良さを与えることを基本としているので、ガラス張りの建物は、大自然の中に建てられています。その為ホテルの周りには多くの鳥類がいるのは仕方ないことですが、透明なガラス窓が鳥の排出物の攻撃対象になってしまっています。この状況を改善するのは日常の清掃以外にオーナーが知恵を働かせ、建物の屋上に鷹の形をした凧を揚げておくことによって鳥たちが近づかないように威嚇しました。ドバイのブルジュ・アル・アラブホテルが専門調教師と鷹を雇い、建物の周りを旋回させているのには叶いませんが、少しは役に立っており、窓の汚れは確かに少し減少しています。次回、礁溪ロイヤルにお越しになった際には屋上の上に鷹が飛んでいても驚かないでください！

This year’s traditional Chinese New Year’s guests
at the Chiao Hsi Royal enjoyed the special richness
of Granny Liang Lee’s traditional art exhibit during
the festival. Our 2010 Chiao Hsi Royal Rice Culture
Festival ’s Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter
engagements, along with Granny Lee’s traditional
Taiwanese ar t exhibit , came to a successful
conclusion as we welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit
along with the arrival of the new spring season.
We pledge to continue our unrelenting efforts
to unearth the finest living examples of traditional
artisans and artists along with their inspirational
stories and works, to present to all our guests from
near and afar, so that you can better appreciate
our mu l t i c u l t u ra l d ive r s i t y wh i le en joy ing
unprecedented new experiences for all the senses
during your stay with us!
It’s the little things that count fora successful large resort
The philosophy underlying our Chiao Hsi Royal’s
eco-design aesthetic endeavors to reveal each guest
in the midst of a comfortable abundance of nature,
through open structures permitting the senses to
repose in blessed enjoyment of the changing vistas
across the day and seasons, with avian biodiversity
surrounding the resort in a panoply of liberty at
flight gliding into the horizon recalling youthful
days. But our tremendous glass windows allowing
enjoyment of these pristine scenes are also exposed
to the unavoidable closeness of our intimacy to
nature. To resolve the need for daily cleaning, our
hotel management has deployed the traditional
hospitality wisdom of emphasizing the little things,
so we have installed eagle kites as scarecrows on
the rooftops to help maintain our high hygiene,
and while our hawks stand guard 24-7, unlike
the Dubai Burj Al Arab resort’s specially retained
hawkmaster with hawks circling in the skies aloft.
They are nevertheless our faithful servants helping
substantially reduce the need for additional window
cleaning. So the next time you visit the Chiao Hsi
Royal and notice our rooftop hawk family in their
mews, do not be alarmed!
