Just good honest Sangiovese fruit coming from a great producer. Sometimes the simplest things turn out to be the best. Have it with pasta of course, but burgers, pizza, and roasted meats of all kinds as well. Except of course Piping Plover. GUIGAL COTES DU RHONE France. Fine example of what a Cotes du Rhone is all about. This dry red has a lot of power to it, but also a lot of elegance. It is mainly comprised of Syrah and Grenache grapes. The blend gives harmony and balance to this full-bodied wine. Personality and quality all in one package. 11.99 6.99 Portugal. Value Alert! This is a beauty from the Ribatejo area of Portugal. If you didn’t know the price of this wine when drinking it, you would think it cost a lot more. This fairly full- bodied, dry red is very soft and well rounded because of the generous amounts of fruit and very mild tannins. Match this up with all grilled meats. QUINTA DO CASAL BRANCO CHATEAU PARAZA MINERVOIS France. Minervois is an area in the Languedoc Region of Southern France. It is known for producing red wines that are very good quality at very affordable prices. That is exactly what Chateau de Paraza is. It is a full-bodied dry red that is made from a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah. Nice fruit, not tannic, medium acidity. Put it all together and you get a real pleasant bottle of wine. 8.99 DOMAINE DE LA QUILLA MUSCADET France. Ahhhh Muscadet. What a great wine but so overlooked. Good Muscadets (such as this) are often referred to as the poor man’s Chablis because it has that clean, lean, vibrant profile but without the big bucks attached to it. This Muscadet is done in the sur-lie style which means that it is aged on its lees (yeast). This adds a little roundness and softness to the wine. Very high quality fruit is obviously used to make this medium-bodied, dry, silky red. The classic flavors of cherry and spice can be found with a little toasted oak. Ripe, round, juicy, smooth, balanced and seductive. That’s right, seductive. It will seduce you out of your money and leave you drooling on the floor for another bottle. You have been warned. PRINCIPESSA GAVI Italy. This light, clean, crisp, dry white originates in the town of Gavi, in Piemonte. The grape in this wine is called Cortese. It’s similar to a Pinot Grigio, but with a little more minerality. There is no oak aging to the wine. Enjoyable by itself or with pasta, seafood, and chicken. 11.99 9.99 MOHUA SAUVIGNON BLANC New Zealand. From the land of Kiwis comes this juicy medium-bodied dry white wine. There is no oak aging to this wine so as to keep it fresh and lively. This baby is jam packed with stunning fruit, soft tannins and mild acidity. All these attributes make for a great modestly priced wine. It is hard to find any faults with this wine. It is that good.
