Enchâssée dans ses montagnes, entourée de pâturages et de forêts, agrippée au lit de la Sarine, la vallée de l’Intyamon porte bien son nom patois : entre les monts.
La nature s’est montrée généreuse pour ce coin de pays qui a su lui préserver son caractère sauvage et ses paysages bucoliques. Villages et prairies, forêts et pâturages se marient harmonieusement, comme s’ils sortaient d’un autre âge. Le fromage a influencé l’organisation de l’espace, le paysage, l’architecture des fermes et des maisons. A Estavannens, Villars-sous-Mont, Grandvillard et Lessoc, ce riche passé se lit sur les façades des maisons et des granges.

IntyamonLa vallée verte
Das von seinen Bergen umschlossene und von Weiden und Wäldern umgebene, der Saane entlang führende Intyamon-Tal trägt seinen Dialektnamen «Zwischen den Bergen» wirklich zu Recht.
Die Natur hat diesen Flecken Land reich beschenkt, denn es konnte seinen unberührten Charakter und seine ländliche Idylle bewahren. Dörfer und Wiesen, Wälder und Weiden gehen harmonisch ineinander über, als ob sie aus einem anderen Zeitalter stammten. Der Käse hat die Organisation des Raumes, die Landschaft, die Bauweise der Bauernhöfe und der Häuser geprägt. In Estavannens, Villars-sous-Mont, Grandvillard und Lessoc lässt sich diese reiche Vergangen-heit an den Fassaden der Häuser und Scheunen ablesen.
The Intyamon Valley, nestling between the mountains, surrounded by pastures and forests and clinging to the bed of the Sarine River, is well named in the local dialect : Between the mountains.
Nature has always been generous to this part of the country, its wild character and pastoral landscapes left unchanged through the years. There’s a wonderfully harmonious blending of villages and meadows, forests and pastures, all seeming to belong to another age. Every aspect of this part of the country – the use of space, the scenery, the architecture of the farm buildings and the houses have all been influenced by…cheese ! At Estavannens, Villars-sous-Mont, Grandvillard and Lessoc, the area’s rich past can be read on the façades of the houses and the barns.

gothique et dédiée à Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice / Die Hilffrau gewidmete gotische Rose-Kapelle aus dem Jahr 1897 / The 1897 Rose Chapel built in gothic style and dedicated to Our Lady of Assistance
• Eglise de 1643 dédiée à Saint Jude et Saint Simon. Un retable très gruérien de l’artiste Jacques Cesa à 2 panneaux verticaux et 6 prédelles orne l’autel depuis 2000. Vous y verrez également le plafond représentant le buisson ardent de Moïse. / Die den Heiligen Jude und Simon gewidmete Kirche von 1643. Ein im typischen Greyerzer Stil gehaltener Altaraufsatz des Künstlers Jacques Cesa mit zwei Tafeln und 6 Predellas ziert seit 2000 den Altar. Sie sehen auch die Decke die den brennenden Busch von Moïse repräsentiert. / Church built in 1643 dedicated to St.Jude and St. Simon. An altarpiece in truly Gruyerian style by the artist Jacques Cesa with 2 vertical pan-els and 6 predellas have graced the altar since 2000. You will also see the ceiling representing the burning bush of Moses.

Sentier des Comtes / Grafenpfad / Trail of the CountsAncienne liaison des Comtes de Gruyères avec le Gessenay bordée de panneaux avec des légendes de la région. De Montbovon à Gruyères ou inversément ou des sept villages bor-diers de la rive gauche de la Sarine. Possibilité d’interrompre la balade en rejoignant les différentes gares.
Alter Verbindungsweg zwischen den Grafen von Gruyères und Gessenay. Der Pfad ist beschildert mit Legenden über die Region. Von Montbovon bis Gruyères oder umgekehrt von den sieben Dörfern des linksseitigen Saa-neufers. Möglichkeit, die Wanderung zu unterbrechen und die verschiede-nen Bahnhöfe zu erreichen.
This is the former path linking Gruyères and Le Gessenay, having at intervals display cases or notice boards, that relate the legends of this area. From Montbovon to Gru-yères, or vice versa, or go through the seven villages along the left bank of the River Sarine. You can cut your walk short by reaching the railway stations.
