Notes from the Previous Meeting:As there was no regular meeting in July there are no notes. The Fuller's Pool Party took the place of the

meeting so here is a little breakdown of events for those who couldn't be there. It was a smash hit with lotsof pool time, games, good conversation and lots of great food. Here's a photo for those of you who couldn'tmake it. Many thanks to the Fullers once again.

    Trips & Such:

The Cloudcroft campout was another good time once again. The weather was wonderful, daytimetemps in the 70s and blanket time for sleeping. There were a lot of dark clouds and thunder in theafternoons but just a few drops fell once. We had a rather small group compared to the last severalcampouts with only about eleven people and four dogs' total. Saturday was the the big hunt for ammoniteswith several nice pieces found. Most of the time was spent riding the trails of which there are hundreds ofmiles of and/or relaxing. A good time was had and with blessed relief from the heat of Las Cruces.

Lots of good food & discussion Kathy Fuller

    Mystery Location?

This location was discovered on one of our camp-outs. It is near a verywonderful collecting site here in southern New Mexico. It is probably bestknow for an ever popular, very colorful mineral that was once mined there. The area is full of long abandoned mine and a town site. Many artifactshave been found there also. The sign was found near the old mine siteson a working ranch which raises longhorn cattle.

Please contact me with your answer or if you need additional [email protected]

And now for last month's Mystery Location which was apparentlya real mystery as there were so few who knew the answer. Thisadit/storage area is in the Hine's Claim Barite mine north ofHatch, in the lower level just off the road. The area is know asPalm Park and we have thru the years, as a club, collected manyfine Barite and Quartz specimens along with some fluorite, fossils and even an occasional artifact.

Correct answers came from Joe Mork who informed me that hehad been out there for the first time just a few days prior toreceiving his Bulletin, Donald Bustamante, Tom Stramiello, AlSpencer and Don Saathoff.
