The UAVhas a six foot wing spanand is catapulted into the airusing bungee cord. Flight time isabout 70 minutes. FAAregulations require that you havea pilot's license to operate insome airspace. The basicoverflight procedure is computerprogrammed and controlled by acomputer at home base (externalpilot). The UAV has digitalcameras located in the nose, andon the wings along with a GPS foreasy site location. Data isdownloaded to a computer at theground station for viewing andrecording. KINGSTON CAMPOUT and/orTHE LOST CANYON GAMBRISINOS

    By Eric Fuller

The following story is true, only the names have beenchanged to protect the duffeses!

Twelve brave Gambrisinos defying the tales of wind andwow as prophesized by the Weather Fibbers, prepared togo forth to Kingston.

The first omen of what was to be was when LadySpunks alarm clock lost its time. She and Madam Prettywere late for departure. A late start the nine of us had, butwe were without fear as we went forth. We were soon joinedand passed by the New Professor and his wife Teacher#1. Passing Radium Springs Teacher #2 joined us briningour count to twelve.

The New Professor and Teacher#1 bravely volunteered togo ahead for a scout of the available camps, intending toacquire the choicest for our group. They succeeded well intheir mission; they had claimed the most prized camping

spot. Our envy and desire for 40 years and we never wereable to possess it. It was at an open juncture of two largecanyons right in the center of our planned activities.

So it was now time to hike the canyon. The NewProfessor was first out as usual. Four of us were comingalong behind when on the radio we hear from him to be onthe lookout for a fanny pack he had lost. It was later found tohave been left in camp. The New Professor had becomethe Absent Minded Professor. Three of us were now aheadof the Professor. Fearless Trip Leader and Fearless TripLeaderett had stopped to pull some thorns from theLeaderetts shoes and then proceeded onward. Soon onthe radio we heard the Professor announce he had found aGerber multi tool in the stream bed. Leader and Leaderett

had left it after removing the thorny problem. On the returnTeacher #1 discovered she had lost her camera. A return tothe mine site revealed its location.

Back in camp and at Happy Hour it was learned thatRocky had lost his rock hammer on the hike in the canyon.Teacher #1 had found his hammer on the way down thecanyon, it was returned to a grateful Rocky.

That night the Weather Fibbers prophecies came trueand to our detriment we found that the canyons couldchannel the wind with terrific force! Lady Spunks andMadam Pretties tents were blown flat by morning. They hadlost tent parts to the wind. Fearless trip Leader foundTeacher #2s table down canyon, it and a wash bowl had

been lost to the wind. Teacher #2 found her bowl far downcanyon!

Enough of the lost stuff. On to what we found!

1-We found that all of the other camp sites had less wind, some almost no wind.2-We found a FS Camp Ground on the main road that had arunning stream next to it, benches, fire hearths and a nice FSPotty.3-We found some new trails, small quartz crystals andfossils.

4-We found that we needed to go further in for more mineraland rock collecting.5-We found ourselves talking about going back toRobinsons Cave on the Percha for a day trip.6-Lastly we found ourselves out of time and now to headhome until the next trip.

    We were lost no more!

FOOT NOTE #1: I have had a rain gauge set up forcampouts for many years. After this years windy campouts Iwill get an anemometer.

FOOT NOTE #2: Can you match the aka to the real person?
