Employee Satisfaction Survey Fall 2016 Summary Report by the Leadership Excellence Program, 2016 Cohort William Albritton, Kathryn Fujioka-Imai, Lori Lei Hayashi, Tracie Losch, and Grant Okamura OVERVIEW & PURPOSE The college strives to provide valued employees with the facilities, tools, and support needed to excel in their positions. We conducted this survey to acquire a better understanding of employee morale, satisfaction, and engagement at Leeward Community College. This survey was created by the 2nd Cohort of the Leadership Excellence Program in collaboration with the Leeward Community College Office of Planning, Policy and Assessment. APPROACH The last Employee Satisfaction Survey was conducted in 2014. The cohort reviewed the 86 questions within the survey and researched other instruments, including the Noel-Levitz College Employee Satisfaction Survey and Gallup Q12 Meta-Analysis Report, to determine how best to measure employee satisfaction. In an effort to maximize the quality and quantity of responses, the cohort decided to develop a concise survey that addressed the following categories: mission, goals, priorities, and planning; resources; governance/leadership; and work environment. For ease of distribution and data analysis, the cohort utilized SurveyShare, an online survey tool. The cohort consulted a doctoral student versed in qualitative research; an institutional researcher from the Office of Planning, Policy, and Assessment; and Leeward CC administrators to provide feedback on the initial draft of the survey. Their suggestions resulted in adjustments to phrasing and organization, as well as the addition of open-ended questions that invited employees to share what they like best about Leeward CC and how to create a better workplace. The cohort distributed the survey to faculty and staff belonging to the facstaff listserv via a link embedded in an email. It remained open for four weeks. DATA SUMMARY Overall 200 out of 535 emailed recipients responded - 37% return rate (Note that this list included active employees and retirees. As a result of this survey, the FACSTAFF email list is being updated to only include active employees.) 1

Employee Satisfaction Survey

Fall 2016

Summary Report by the Leadership Excellence Program, 2016 Cohort William Albritton, Kathryn Fujioka-Imai, Lori Lei Hayashi, Tracie Losch, and Grant Okamura

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE The college strives to provide valued employees with the facilities, tools, and support needed to excel in their positions.

DATA SUMMARY Overall 200 out of 535 emailed recipients responded - 37% return rate (Note that this list included active employees

and retirees. As a result of this survey, the FACSTAFF email list is being updated to only include active employees.)
