Support the development and implementation of strategies and programs for conservation of breeds and animal populations which are at risk Assists and coordinates activities and

communication among the NC’s of CA Ensure active networking Mobilize financial resources

The General Assembly (GA) is the main decision making body It brings together all Coordinators of S-RFP and NCs It approves the budget of the S-RFP It provides overall technical and policy guidance to the

operation of the S-RFP It holds the overall responsibility for implementing the

Workplan It mandates and oversees the SC and the Secretariat to

carry out its decisions

Consists of members Assembly (NCs, representatives from RECs, technical agencies: AU-IBAR, FAO, NGO representatives and Producers organizations) The members are elected by the Assembly The SC is headed by a chair, the chair is elected by the

Assembly of NCs Plans the activities of the S-RFP as decided upon by the

Assembly

Mandates the Secretariat in carrying out its decisions Approves and monitors the workplan of the Secretariat

including the budget Establishes short-term Task Forces as required Represents the S-RFP in communications with other

institutions within the mandate of the Assembly

Give secretarial support to the Steering Committee of the S-RFP Organize the General Assembly (GA) Execute decisions and support projects decided on by

the Steering Committee (SC) Provide technical and financial reports on a regular

basis Facilitate communication among NCs of CA Collect the relevant information on AnGR among NCs of

CA and feed the African Animal Genetic resources Information System (AAGRIS)
