    Medford Energy Committee

    Meeting Minutes

    9/12/11

    Attendance: Brett Sullivan, Susan Altman, Jonathan Hunt, Bob Paine, J.R. Siegel, FredLaskey, Rick Sacco, Curtis Tuden, Elisabeth Krautscheid, Alicia Hunt, John Rogers

    1) Introduction of new committee member: John Rogers

    2) Approval of July 25th

    meeting minutes:

    - approved after corrections made to attendance

    3) Updates on city energy projects:

    a. Medford PV project - waiting on Dagle to get their comments on the

    PPA. Expect to have Andrews School complete by Jan 1, 2012

    b. MHS hot water heater project - delays on gas connection due toNational Grid changes. DPW helping, should be complete soon.

    c. Lighting Projects, including Public Safety & Schools - Completed allfire stations & police stations, library, Gene-Mac Gym, 3 elementary schools.

    Next week: Senior Center. Still on agenda: City Hall. Consultants looking into

    ideas and financing: Middle & High Schools4) Update on Kil-A-Wat meters for library

    - meters are getting regular use and are being promoted in the library

    newsletter this fall, so probably do not need additional promotion from us.We should check in the spring if adding more would be

    appropriate.

    5) Update from Climate Action Plan subcommittee

    - intern looked at projects over the last 10 years that addressed the old plan

    and is working on a draft report. The subcommittee is currently evaluatingplans for moving forward.

    6) Update on Green Medford Home Energy Audit campaign- collaboration with Next Step Living was through MCAN and has ended.

    They are evaluating signing an agreement with NSL to continue the program

    independently of MCAN.

    7) Harvest Your Energy Festival Updates

    - vendors are lining up- focus now on advertising and promotion

    - contact guests

    - formal invite to city and school councils by Rick Sacco

    - would like to develop closer relationship with city, is interested in

    suggestions.

    9) Green Column in Medford Transcript

    - discussion of sharing committee responsibility of publishing a city

    sponsored green/energy article with Green Medford.

    10) Green Medford Outreach with City Recycling Program

    - challenge to Medford Residents to do more
