Explore classes in visual arts and writing at the M.I. School of the Arts. Enjoy music at the M.I. Music Camp. Visit the M.I. Museum to learn early Island history: displays, lectures and events. Turn back time at M.I. Heritage Center. SIMPLE JOYS Big Bay Town Park and Big Bay State Park are outdoor destinations for camping, hiking and beaches. For La Pointe strolls, pick up Walking Tour and Capser Trail guides at the Ferry Line office. Joni’s Beach (public) is also right in town. The Inn’s outdoor swimming pool – by the Marina and walking distance from the Ferry – has a daily rate. Kayak, swim, golf, hike, paddleboard, inline skate, bike, play miniature golf, join a yoga class, or get up in time to watch the sun rise on the big lake. YUMMMM! Eat alfresco at the Beach Club while watching the ferries arrive and depart. Create a picnic at the Island Market or Lori’s Store. There’s baked goods, bread and sweets at the Madeline Island Bakery and ice cream or pizza on Grampa Tony’s top deck. Start the day with a home-spun breakfast at Ella’s. Rich, hot coffee and snacks at Mission Hill are great daytime treats. Brew, spirits and hearty fare at the Pub Restaurant and Wine Bar or a relaxing dinner at Cafe Seiche will round out your day. KID ENERGY Kids of all ages enjoy spotting birds and animals. Big Bay State Park has a Junior Ranger Program. There is a Skateboard Park behind the baseball diamond in La Pointe. Easy & free kid resources in La Pointe are Joni’s Beach with a toddler playground; kid-friendly hike on Capser Trail; Story Hour on Tuesdays at the Library; playground equipment at the Rec Center Park; and playground at the La Pointe School. Madeline Island is the first off-reservation location in Wisconsin to install bilingual signs. Anishinaabemowin signs recognize the Ojibwe’s sacred ties to Mooningwanekaaning. AROUND THE ISLAND Bicyclists ride single file to the right. Bike path is on Middle Road. Speed limit for cars is 40 mph. Please help in keeping our Island clean!
