legalproceduresandpractices,anddocumentingcourtandcorrectionalactions.CourseDescription:ThiscourseprovidesageneraloverviewoftheagenciesandprocessesinvolvedintheUnitedStatescriminaljusticesystem:thepolice,thecourtsandthecorrectionsinstitutions/programs. LearningStrategies:Groupdiscussion,teamprojects,collaborativelearningandlecturing ExperientialLearningOpportunities:Studentswillbeprovidedwithopportunitiestoaddress,evaluateandrespondtoissuestakenfromthemediathatarerelatedtoclassroomlearning.

Assessments:Avarietyofassessmenttoolsandmodalitieswillbeemployed.Threeexams=50%offinalgrade.Journalingandclassroomparticipation=25%each.
MajorAssignments: Studentsareexpectedtocompleteaweeklyjournalentryrelatedtoatopicoftheirchoicefromthechaptertextassignedfortheweek.Afinaloralreportononeoftheseweeklyjournalentrieschosenbythestudentwillbegivenattheendofthesemester.
ClassParticipation: Studentsareexpectedtoengageinclassroomdiscussionandothergroupactivities.
