Scripture Corner:

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER First Reading: Acts 8:5‑8, 14‑17 Philip preaches to the people of Samaria, who accept his word after witnessing the miracles he performs. Peter and John pray that they will receive the Holy Spirit.

Second Reading: 1 Peter 3:15‑18 Christians are urged to remain steadfast in their alle-giance to Christ, giving evidence always of gentleness and hope.

Gospel: John 14:15‑21 In his words to the apostles at the Last Supper, Jesus promises to send them a comforter, a Paraclete, the Spirit of truth, who will be with them always.

**7:30 pm **updated Revive is a three night event coming to the parishes of our Archdiocese during which we will explore the fundamental questions, "What are we living for? What is God's purpose for our lives?" Join us and others in your Catholic community to reflect and listen to diverse voices discuss their faith journeys-and go home refreshed and ready to put your faith into action.

On nights one and two, we will enjoy music, listen to a special reflection from one of the inspiring priests of our religious orders, and hear from members of our own communities about overcoming life's challenges through faith and perseverance; you also will be invited to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On night three, we will celebrate a community Mass-and for those in need, offer the Sacrament of the Anointing (Anointing of the Sick).

Revive will be held at every cluster in the Archdiocese of New York. A cluster is a grouping of 4 or 5 parishes within a region. For St. Marys, our parish cluster Revive is being held at St. Patrick's in Bedford, however you may attend any location that is convenient for you. Eucharistic Adoration—Summer Months

Friday, June 2nd, will be the last Nocturnal Adora-tion for the summer months. Friday, June 9th will be the last Daytime Eucharistic Adoration for the summer months. The church will still be open for private prayer during the summer and the 7:30pm First Friday Mass will still be celebrated. Daytime Adoration will resume September 15th and Noctur-nal Adoration will resume October 6th.

Reminders for those Becoming Sponsors

It is a great honor and privilege to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a godparent is a sacred duty. You become the “other parent” in the ways of faith. That is why the Church requires sponsors to be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older, having received Confirmation, living a good Christian moral life. If a sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. Two sponsors are required for Baptism, one must be a male and the other a female.

To be eligible to receive a sponsor certificate from the parish priests, the individual must be a current parishioner, and be known to the priest as being a practicing Catholic, attending Mass regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic communities.

If you are in need of a sponsor certificate, please call the parish office and one of the priests will set up a meeting with you.

2017 ANNOUNCED MASSES AT ST. MARYS

Announced Masses for 2017 are still available for your intentions….some as soon as the end of August!! All of the Masses available are weekday (Monday—Saturday) 8 and 8 am Masses, with the exception of two available First Friday 7:30 pm Masses. When the 2017 Mass Book is full, we will then open the 2018 book, probably around mid-July.

Masses can be said for the living or the deceased, for a group (ex. “For All Priests”) or for a general intention (“In Thanksgiving”). Please do not let the graces from these Masses get away! The request-ed donation is $20 per Mass. Send in your requests by mail or stop by the rectory, we will be happy to help.

Couples celebrating 25 or 50 years of marriage will be honored at St. Marys on June 25th at the 11:30 am Mass. Please call the rectory by June

14th to register. There will be a small reception for our couples in the St. Joseph Room after the Mass.
