l’Abbaye de Fontevraud un lieu deréférence sur l’image en mouvement.Considérée comme la plus vaste citémonastique d’Europe, l’Abbaye deFontevraud est un site majeur du Val deLoire – Patrimoine Mondial de l’Unesco.Devenu « Centre Culturel de Rencontre »,le monument trouve aujourd’hui une nouvellevocation en devenant un lieu de création,de diffusion culturelle et d’échangesinternationaux. Son projet de développementest centré sur les enjeux culturels,artistiques et intellectuels contemporains.Il ambitionne de faire de l’Abbaye deFontevraud le « jardin des cultures dumonde » et affirme notamment une ligne

directrice autour de l’image en mouvement.

The abbey of Fontevraud :A modal site for moving images.Considered as the largest monasticcity in Europe, the Abbey of Fontevraudis one of the most important sites ofthe Val de Loire region, registeredUNESCO world heritage.

The Abbey became of few yearsago, a “Cultural Meeting Center”and consequently is today aimingat becoming a place for creation,cultural spreading and internationalexchanges. Its project is focusedon cultural, artistic and intellectualcontemporaneous purposes. It issetting its heart on becoming a“world cultures garden” highlightingespecially moving images.

Chaque année, l’Abbaye de Fontevraudaccueille en résidence des réalisateurs

d’animation qui souhaitent mener un travaild’écriture (scénario, recherche graphique,recherche musicale, story-board) sur unprojet personnel de court ou long-métrage.Ces réalisateurs bénéficient d’une boursede création.

Every year, the Abbey of Fontevraudwelcomes in residencies, animatedfilms directors who wish to work

L’Abbaye de Fontevraud a mis en place despartenariats avec différents festivals permettantà leurs lauréats de bénéficier d’une résidence :

. le Festival International du Cinémad’Animation de Meknès (Maroc), FICAM ;

. le Festival Premiers Plans à Angers (France).

D’autre part des programmations communessont établies avec le Festival Internationalde la Rochelle.

L’Abbaye de Fontevraud propose aux auteursde cinéma d’animation des résidences decréation. Ces résidences d’écriture sontfinancées dans le cadre du programmeOdyssée pour l’accueil de résidents inter-nationaux dans les Centres Culturels deRencontre et par la Direction des AffairesCulturelles des Pays de la Loire (ministèrede la culture) pour l’accueil de résidents denationalité française.

L’acte de créationS’immerger dans son travail en faisantabstraction des contraintes matérielles pour

un temps donné ; telles sont les conditions

que propose l’Abbaye de Fontevraud, lieuhistorique, écrin d’architecture et de jardins.

Atmosphère paisible propice à l’imagination

et à la création, autorisant explorations,suscitant expérimentations. Occasion derencontres, d’échanges avec d’autrescréateurs en résidence.

The Creation Act

Immersing oneself in his own worknot caring about material constraintsduring a given period, those arethe conditions that the abbey of Fontevraud proposes. It is a historicalplace set between a great architecture

and gardens.Peaceful atmosphere especially recommended for imagination andcreation, allowing explorations andproposing experimentations. It is theoccasion to meet and exchange withother artists in residency.

La résidence de création « Film d’animation »à Fontevraud porte sur des projets courts,

moyens ou longs-métrages.Elle concerne plus particulièrementles étapes de l’écriture tant scénaristique,graphique que musicale.

Aucun résultat n’est attendu ; aucuneobligation de restitution à l’issue de la rési-dence.

Le travail réalisé reste la propriété del’auteur, qui dispose pleinement de son droitmoral et patrimonial, sans cession ou rétri-bution à l’Abbaye de Fontevraud, qui elle-même n’a aucun droit à modifier ou interve-nir sur le travail réalisé par le résident.

Cependant, le résident s’engage à citer larésidence à l’Abbaye de Fontevraud sur toutfilm ou projet découlant de manière directe

ou indirecte de son séjour de création avecla mention suivante : « L’écriture de ce filma été engagée dans le cadre d’une résidencede création à l’Abbaye de Fontevraud …(date)…, avec le soutien de la DRAC des Paysde la Loire (ou dans le cadre du programmeOdyssée) » et d’y ajouter le logo de l’Abbaye.

The creation residency “Animatedfilms” in Fontevraud deals withmedium and short length films.

It particularly concerns the different steps of writing either scenarios,graphic and musical works.

At the end of the residency no result or restitution are asked.

The work realized stays the property of its author who owns totally its moral or patrimonial right; without any cessionor remuneration to the Abbey of Fontevraud, which has no right tochange or intervene on t he resident work.

However, the resident promises torefer to the Abbey of Fontevraud onevery film or project coming directly or indirectly from his creationresidency mentioning : “the writingof this film started during a c reationresidency at the abbey of Fontevraud(date), with the help of the DRAC

of the Pays de la Loire region(or thanks to the Odyssée program)”and to add the abbey’s logo.

Ainsil’auteur en résidence peut-il se voir proposerde participer à la vie culturelle et artistiquedu territoire de diverses manières :rencontres, démonstrations, projections

de films, débats, exposition de travaux

réalisés ou en cours… participant ainsi

d’une éducation à l’image, voire de formation

de médiateurs et d’enseignants.

Creating at the Abbey of Fontevraud,within the heart of the territory and itsheritage offers a unique occasion tomeet a culture, a new knowledge anda different everyday life. The author inresidency can receive propositionsto participate to the cultural andartistic life of the territory in severalways : meetings, shows, filmprojections, debates, exhibitionsof finished or unfinished works…This participates to the educationto images, or also formationsof mediators or teachers.

Les demandes doivent

comprendre impérativement :

• une lettre de motivation justifiant notammentde la nécessité d’un temps d’écriture dans

la mise en œuvre du projet.

• la présentation du projet devant être

réalisé pendant la résidence à l’Abbaye

de Fontevraud,

• un portfolio de votre travail,

• un DVD de vos travaux précédents

(films, publicités...),

• des propositions de rencontre

avec le public,

• un curriculum vitae,

La sélection des candidats se fait dans le cadre

d‘un jury réunissant des professionnels du

cinéma d’animation, auteurs, enseignants,

producteurs…Ne rentrent pas en ligne de compte la

nationalité des candidats, la technique

d’animation employée. Il n’est pas non plus

nécessaire qu’une aide ou que la participation

d’un producteur soient acquises.

of animated films professionals,

animation techniques used are not

involved. The help or participation of

a future producer is not necessary.

The residents are given a writingbursary of 1200 for the residency*,wich will take place from october 15 th

to november 15 th.The travelling costs are reimbursedon the basis of one return home/abbey and producing the justifications.

A complementary bursary is given for the food. The residents are housedfree of charge by the Cultural Center of the West (sheets and towels areprovided).

Laundry and equipped kitchenare at your disposal.

*The residency lasts one month (dates have to be

precised between the resident and the abbey team).

Les résidents se voient attribuer une boursed’écriture de 1 200 euros pour la résidence*,

qui se déroulera en octobre 2012 (dates derésidence possible du 15 septembre au 15novembre 2012).

Les frais de voyage engagés sontremboursés sur la base d’un aller-retourdomicile/abbaye et sur présentationdes justificatifs.

Une bourse complémentaire est prévuepour la restauration. Les résidents sontlogés à titre gracieux par le Centre Culturel

de l’Ouest, (draps et linge de toilette sontfournis). Buanderie et cuisine équipées sontà disposition.

*La durée de la résidence est d’un mois (période à

préciser entre le résident et l’équipe de l’Abbaye).
