Presentation abstracts Paper 1 – Doing less with Moore! Challenges and opportunities for future standards Abstract: As an introduction to the day and to see where LTE fits in the actual wireless picture, this paper will look at the trends in the standardization, the growing fragmentation and complexity, the gap between conformance testing and real-life operation, as well as the opportunities for standards in an uncertain world, the integration of macrocell and small cell technology and will compare the femtocell implementation to what Wi-Fi brings today. Paper 2 – Concepts of LTE and RF Parametric Tests on the PHY layer Abstract: While LTE has a big potential to enhance 3G networks and enable significant new service opportunities, its commercial success requires the early availability of measurement solutions that parallel the standard’s development. In this presentation, we will cover practical signal generation and analysis techniques for both uplink and downlink LTE physical layer signal structure after a quick update on the standard and description of the Layer 1. We will illustrate this paper with live demonstrations on Agilent solutions and conclude it with the description of the complete Agilent LTE portfolio, both for FDD and TD-LTE, from Design to Network Optimization. Paper 3 – Test & Measurement Solutions for LTE UEs/Mobile Devices: From Baseband to Call Processing Abstract: This paper will go thru the life cycle of a LTE UE and show how Agilent product offering can provide solutions for every phase of its development and integration. As RF parametric tests are covered thru the previous presentation, this material will mainly focus on the E6620A Wireless Communications Test Set and its full range of capabilities. Paper 4 – LTE & MIMO. The reality of multiple antenna techniques Abstract: The smart antenna technology Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) is considered essential for LTE (and mandatory!) to maximize system capacity and provide high data rates. Both 2 transmitter x 2 receiver designs and 4 transmitter x 4 receiver designs are being considered. This paper will go thru the different MIMO implementations described in the standard both on the downlink and on the uplink and how Agilent solutions will be able to test such multiple antenna systems. Paper 5 – LTE Advanced and what 4G will look like Abstract: LTE is the Long Term Evolution of UMTS and LTE-Advanced is a follow-on version of LTE that has higher performance, and is aligned with definitions of 4G, as defined by the ITU. As LTE is not deployed yet but coming soon on our networks, this paper will have a look at the next generation of wireless standard and how LTE appears as the mandatory step to 4G.
