Siegel, Brett Sullivan, Rick Sacco, Bob Paine, Susan Altman, Elisabeth Krautscheid, Alicia Hunt 1. Approved the Minutes of the February 7 , 2011 m eeting 2. Updates on Energy projects: a. Medford PV project continued discussions with top tw o v endors. Still expect to have majority of the work done this summer. b. MHS hot w ater heater project Working w ith BL W Engineers on the capacity needs and design. 3. Update from website subcomm itt ee – Chose a website hosting service, Green Geeks, they are wind powered and highly recommended by  J onathan’s colleagues at MIT. J on began moving t he old site ove r , http://medfordenergy.org/cleanenergy/ has the content from http://medfordcleanenergy.org/ but nothin g else. We need to setup a redirect from the old URL to the new location and then we will be able to rem ove the old site. The subcomm itt ee will continue to m eet t o develop the new site. 4. Update on Kill-A-Watt m eter s for t he librar y a. Friends vot ed u nam inously t o pur chase the m eter s. Thanks t o t he donations for the kill-a-watt m eter s, th ey will purchase 4 P 4400 meters (simplest meters) and have money for packaging, documentation and for replacements if necessary. b. Susan is start ing a lit eratur e list for th e Friends to purchase for t he library, of energy books. Committee is encouraged to recommend books for the list. Page 1 of 2

c. Susan will write an article for the library newsletter about the kill-a-watt meter, we can use a version of that to send to the press to doa press release once the meters are available.

5. Update from Climate Action Plan Subcommittee – Committee is going todraft two job descriptions for interns to work on the CAP.

6. Green Medford Home Energy Audit campaign (Susan) – Susan broughtdraft, questions about the Mayor endorsing Next Step Living, and whethertheir name should come out of the press release. [Update: press releasehas since been published]

7. Earth Day ideas discussion (Curtis, others?)

a. Curtis’s mother is the City’s Tree Warden. They are discussingoptions around having a tree-related Earth Day event

b. Alicia may be organizing an event on 4/23/11 around cloth diapers– The Great Cloth Diaper Change is a worldwide movement to set

the Guiness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed atonce. Would likely NOT be a city-related event

c. Susan attended a meeting with area groups around collaboratingout outreach and organization for Earth Day events. Our Treeevent would be included. Will look for options to hand outinformation about energy audits.

8. Residential Solar

a. New option for residential solar with no upfront costs (Bob Paine) –Lease program from Solar City. You can either pay an electric rateto them over time, or pay upfront for the next 20 years at $0.072

per kWhr. Essentially a PPA for homeownersb. Green Communities residential solar pilot – GC is looking for Green

Communities to apply to do a residential solar pilot. They wouldprovide help and advice for outreach. The Office of E&E does nothave the staffing to run such a program at this time and theCommittee feels that it is not ready to take on a commitment of thisscale. There was also some concern that the program is not yetwell developed and this does not feel like the type of program thatwe would want to be a pilot community for.

9. New Business

a. National Grid Energy reports (time permitting) – oPower. J .R.provided information about people getting feedback on their energyusage from the Utility.
