Board Meeting Minutes, September 8, 2011

Tucson6:00pm, Metropolitan Grill

Members presentDr. Jerry Holbrook, Gary Anderson, Keith Bauman, Scott Fruit,

Betsy Apking, Ardean Hagemeister, Connie Swenson, Shirley Dowling, Roger

Ketelsen, and Mary Langemeier.

Also presentMary Holbrook and Jerry Langemeier.

Members absentSusan Johansen and Lucia Konrath.

The meeting was called to order by the President at 6:15pm. Mary L. read the

Minutes of the previous meeting. After additions, they were approved. It was

voted to post the Minutes on the Website. Gary gave the Treasurers report

which was approved. No activity since July.

Bank balance 6-30-11 $10,197.36

Book balance 7-29-11 $ 9,884.66

Withdrawals included payment for the Huskers Illustrated magazines and bank

charges. Income was for memberships. A Post Office box rental fee of $55 was

approved.

Presidents reportDr. Jerrys assessment of the B1G Corn Roast at the Fox and

Hound on August 27 was that it was a lot of fun. Everyone agreed. Dr. Shelton

was a plus. The B1G Alumni Presidents want to do more fun things throughout

the year, bowling, golf, maybe softball. The possibilities are endless. The

Arizonans for Nebraska Alumni Chapter is now Huskers in Arizona. Our banner at

Memorial Stadium is O.K. A new member Welcome letter will be included in the

Presidents letter on the Website.

MembershipAll membership information needs to go to Shirley, dues to Gary.

Dr. Jerry said it is very important that whenever we receive a new members

application at a watch site, make sure we confirm payment of either cash or

check, date it and sign it before sending it to Shirley. Dr. Jerry gave his Post

Office key to Shirley.

Past PresidentsKeith said 700 Huskers are expected to attend the pregame

Husker Huddle hosted by Nebraska Alumni Association in Wisconsin. That game

has far more demand for tickets than what was allotted.

WebsiteRoger stated we have received over 2,686 hits, 99 on one day. The

average is 50 per day. Special events notice should be added to the Website.

Watch sitesScott reported we have a variety of items on hand. The Huskers

Illustrated magazines have been added for raffles. Connie is the Activities

Director. Dr. Jerry asked that she provide a calendar of events for 2012.

Scholarship & Student RecruitmentBetsy gave the report for Lucia. Salpointe

College Night is Wednesday, October 5, 3-4:30pm. The Tucson Unified School

District College Night is that evening from 6:30-9pm at the Tucson Convention

Center. Betsy will be attending the Campus Advisory Council meeting, October

7 in Lincoln.

Old BusinessIt was voted to replace the Touchdowns microphone at a cost of

$100-125.

Registration deadline for the Bisbee 5k Stair Race is October 1. The event will be

the morning of October 5, a non-football Saturday for Nebraska.

Vice President vacancy will be on the agenda at the January meeting.

New BusinessThe football lottery booklets will again be sold at both WatchSites.

A motion to contribute $1000 to the Scholarship Fund was passed.

Board Meeting ScheduleJanuary 12, 2012, at Old Pueblo Grill on Alvernon and

Broadway. If necessary, a Special Meeting may be called in December.
