Reactions 1488, p32 - 15 Feb 2014 S Temozolomide Visual field deterioration: case report A 54-year-old woman developed visual field deterioration during treatment with temozolomide. The woman, who underwent surgery for recurrent oligodendroglioma, developed right sided visual loss with temporal hemianopia on her second postoperative day. Seven months later, after fractionated radiotherapy and concomitant daily temozolomide and during monthly adjuvant temozolomide, her right visual field defect became concentric [route, dosage and duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Her visual evoked potentials revealed markedly increased P100 latency, mainly on her right side. Temozolomide was withdrawn. Prednisolone treatment was not effective. Four months later, examination revealed slight improvement of her ocular symptoms and partial recovery of her visual evoked potential abnormalities. Author comment: "The incidence of late neurocognitive deficits related to TMZ [temozolomide] is low. In rare cases visual disturbances have been reported." Koeppen S, et al.
