    2012/2013 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMCOFINANCED BY GDF SUEZ / MAEE

    The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) and the GDF SUEZ Group

    have decided to create a scholarship program with Ecole Polytechnique for high-level

    foreign students to study in France. They are pleased to launch this program for the

    academic year 2012-2013.

    The scholarship programme, which comes under the QUAI DORSAY / ENTREPRISES

    scheme operated by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, is a public-

    private partnership designed to provide optimal conditions for student life in France,including a personalized welcome and learning environment. Applicants are selected

    jointly by the MAEE, GDF SUEZ and French higher education partner institutions.

    The programme, which is cofinanced by GDF SUEZ and the French Ministry of Foreign and

    European Affairs for the 2012/2013 academic year, is intended for students from Brazil, Chile,

    India and Lebanon who are currently enrolled at university in their home countries. Only

    candidates with the nationality of these four countries are eligible for the program.

    For the 2012/2013 academic year, 4 to 6 scholarshipswill be awarded.

    AREA OF STUDY

    The study scholarships cofinanced by GDF SUEZ and the MAEE are awarded for one year of studies

    in France in the second year of a Masters program (M2) in the following specializations at Ecole

    Polytechnique, Paris:

    Master Renewable Energy Science & Technology

    Master Water, Air, Pollution & Energy at local & regional scales

    WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?

    Following the selection procedure, if you are awarded a scholarship under the program cofinancedby GDF SUEZ /MAEE, you will receive:

    from GDF SUEZ:

    a single flat-rate scholarship of 13,000 inclusive of tuition fees, welcome and administrativecosts, tutorials and French language courses, for which the corresponding amount (3 000) willbe deducted by the Ecole Polytechnique; the remaining 10 000 will be transferred to youfollowing a twelve month schedule of payments;

    corporate mentoring within GDF SUEZ; an internship assignment offer within a GDF SUEZ entity. An additional stipend may be offered

    depending on the entity of appointment;

    career guidance support at the end of your stay in France;

    Depending on the recruitment needs of its business lines and your performance, GDF SUEZcould offer you a career opportunity, provided you obtain your degree from Ecole Polytechniqueand a referral for recruitment from the course supervisor and the Human Resources Officer of thehost entity in France, at the end of the scholarship program.

    from the MAEE and with funding from the French Embassy:

    social, medical, and civil liability insurance cover that will give you the status of Frenchgovernment scholarship student and related advantages, including simplified visaapplications, access to cultural activities at an attractive price;

    intensive French-language courses before leaving for France, provided by the Alliancesfranaises network in your country of origin.

    From Ecole Polytechnique:

    support before your departure and during your stay in France, including preparation for arrival inFrance, possibility to attend intensive French language courses in France during the summer

    before the beginning of the scientific courses, assistance in obtaining a residence permit,reservation of an accommodation on the campus.

    You may also apply for Personalized Housing Benefits (APL).

    Please note that the airfare to and from France is payable by the students.

    WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

    You are eligible for this scholarship program if:

    you are a national of Brazil, Chile, India, Lebanon;

    You apply to the course(s) proposed according to your home country :

    India: Master Water, Air, Pollution & Energy at local & regional

    scales

    Brazil: Master Renewable Energy Science & Technology

    Chile: Master Renewable Energy Science & Technology

    Lebanon : Master Renewable Energy Science & Technology

    Master Water, Air, Pollution & Energy at local & regional

    scales

    you are no more than 28 years of age in the year in which you are selected;

    you are not already benefiting from a scholarship from the French government or from anothercompany;

    you do not have a previous commitment with another company at the time of your arrival inFrance, such as company grant, an open-ended employment contract, an apprenticeshipcontract, etc.;

    you are a student in your country of origin and have at least completed 4 years of undergraduatestudies in Science or Engineering;

    you show an interest in the GDF SUEZ Group;

    you send a full application containing all the documents required (cf. section entitled Mandatoryapplication documents).

    Important observations: bi-national students are not eligible for the scholarship program if their second nationality isFrench; applications for apprenticeship or continuing education courses will be rejected outright; a good command of English is a prerequisite. A good command of French is an

    advantage in the selection process and should be regarded as one of the objectives to bereached by the end of your stay.

    WHEN DOES THE SELECTION TAKE PLACE?

    You must submit your application for admission in a Masters program at Ecole

    Polytechnique. Application deadlines:

    1stsession: 15 FEBRUARY 2012

    2ndsession: 1 MAY 2012

    Before the 11 MAY 2012, you must submit your application for a scholarship of the program

    cofinanced by GDF SUEZ/MAEE, electronically to the French Embassy.

    If the scholarship application you sent to the Embassy is admissible, the French Embassy in your

    country of origin will send you a notification to attend an interview on the day the Selection

    Committee of the scholarship program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ / MAEE is scheduled to meet.

    Between 4 and 8 JUNE 2012, the Committee for the preselection of applicants for a

    scholarship will be convened in your country of origin under the authority of the French

    Embassy. It will be made up at least of a representative of the Embassys Cooperation and

    Cultural Action Service (SCAC), and of a representative of the GDF SUEZ Group subsidiary in

    your country of origin.

    Selected applications will be sent to Paris electronically by the French Embassies in the countries

    concerned no later than 13 JUNE 2012.

    On 20 JUNE 2012, on the proposal of the preselection Committee in your country of origin, the

    final list of selected applicants will be drawn up by consultation between GDF SUEZ and the

    MAEE.

    Following the examination of your application, you will be informed by the Embassy whether it

    has been selected for the award of a scholarship cofinanced by GDF SUEZ/MAEE or rejected.

    If your application is successful, you will be responsible for ensuring that you are formally enrolledat Ecole Polytechnique. You will be declared a winner of a scholarship under theprogram cofinanced by GDF SUEZ /MAEE only on condition that you have been formallyadmitted to that institution.

    WHAT ARE THE SELECTION PROCEDURES?

    The following selection criteria are taken into account:

    excellence of the applicant, as reflected by his/her previous university experience;

    the applicants career goals;

    strong interest in working in an energy & environmental professions;

    willingness to contribute to the development of your zone or country of origin;

    the applicant's level of French and English;

    the applicants degree of autonomy, adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and team spirit.

    MANDATORY APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

    These documents shall be digitized if needed in order to be sent electronically

    a one-page curriculum vit in French or English;

    a copy of your academic record and of your academic qualifications;

    a copy of the application certificate or acknowledgement of receipt from Ecole Polytechnique; a two-page statement of your career plans in French or English giving the following

    information:

    1. summary of your training experience and of any work experience you may have;

    2. career prospects (sector of activity, functions, preferred countries)

    3. your motivation for joining this scholarship program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ/MAEE:- what would you gain from the program?- how do you think you may contribute to the program?
