THE TREATMENT: Candle Massage BRAND: Aïny. Organic, fair trade, and based on an innovative ethical
model, Aïny was born from the vision of founder Daniel
Joutard, to link ancient knowledge of sacred plants, from
the Andes and Amazon, with state of the art technology
allowing the cosmetic benefits to shine through with the
products of this brand.
How can we not succumb to our curiosity, and test out the
Candle Massage, developed with a Shaman, and lavishly
finished off by a practitioner, who herself is the daughter
of a Columbian healer!
The treatment is inspired by the Limpias rites, designed to
evacuate negative energy, and to liberate energy blocked
within the body. For this treatment, a candle (unlit!) is used
to absorb this unwanted energy. The method is simple:
step by step, it works by awakening these energies in the
body using tonic and circular outward movements of the
palm to encourage evacuation of the negative energy,
followed by friction to the area stimulated using the candle
which acts as blotting paper for the unwanted energies.
Traditionally, these rituals were done ‘dry’ but here the
Body Balm is an integral part of the treatment. To start
the session, I am seated and the practitioner moves the
candle around my body to open up the aura, the famous
magnetic field surrounding the body. Then, lying down,
Adriana concentrates first of all on the legs and feet, the
areas that retain the most energy! Next she moves to the
arms, the décolleté, abdomen, and face. The movements
are simple and repetitive, pleasant and relaxing. Lying face
down, the same areas are cleansed and also the back.
Adriana lingers over the joints, important cross roads of
energy and not to be ignored. The treatment finishes with
movements to ‘close’ the magnetic field and using the
hands to gently reawaken the body. You leave with your
candle which you can take to burn at home to remove
unwanted energies!
TIME: 60 mins - PRICE: 85 Euros.
PRODUCT: Body balm, 54 Euros for 500 ml
MY OPINION: This treatment gives you an insight into an ancestral tradition; it opens the door to these mysterious rituals which are rarely accessible to westerners. It allows us, from the very start of the session, to enter the ‘sacred sphere’ within oneself. From a technical point of view, these movements appear simple, yet bring with them deep relaxation, and above all the expected result: a deep cleansing of the mind and body! To have this on your treatment menu, is a real value added product as it is rarely found in European Spas. Be careful though, if the candle should break in two during the session, this augurs a bad week to come!

LATEST OFFICIAL DATA FROM INSEE, DGCIS, AND
THE SYNDICAT NATIONAL DES RESIDENCES DE
TOURISME), WERE AMONG THE FIRST TO INCLUDE
WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES IN THEIR OFFERINGS. HERE
IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE SITUATION...
THE HOLIDAY RESIDENCE SECTORAccording to the 6th July 2010 decree, “the holiday residence is a classified commercial
accommodation establishment which is in business either all year round or in season…..
Furnished accommodation is available to tourists who do not live there permanently, but
are staying for a night, a week or a month. They have a minimum of facilities and services
available to all residents...” Working on this assumption, the holiday residences have
developed numerous activities in order to appeal to holidaymakers and keep them
busy during long stays. Indeed, this latter type of holiday lasts 7 days on average,
taking all nationalities together (from 5.1 days in towns to 7.9 days at the seaside
according to SNRT). A large number of holiday residence operators have understood
that the Spa addresses an important challenge both in terms of clients and potential
investors.
THE SPA SERVES AS A GUARANTEE
FOR THE ACCOMMODATION’S FUTURE
ATTRACTIVENESS
In terms of clients, the Spa is part of a broadening of services available to clients
interested in leisure activities. According to Mrs. Nathalie GUINOT, Communication
Director at Lagrange, “the Spa, like in the hotel industry, is a reason for choosing a
holiday residence, even if clients do not use it much in the end”. In terms of private and
institutional investors, the Spa can influence the attractiveness of an investment.
Not in the same way as location of course, but the Spa can serve as a guarantee
of the accommodation’s future attractiveness, on a level with the quality of the
infrastructure and apartments.
The new rankings, official since 1st July 2010, were long awaited by the industry as
they modernise and supplement the existing texts that date back to 1986.
The holiday residence stock consists of 1,198 holiday residences with a total of
167,801 apartments as of 1st January 2012. There is an average of 84 apartments per
holiday residence.
