Parmi les acariens prédateurs on a pu identifier l’espèce
Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) recki.
Abstract
Despite the importance of its national socio-economic contribution, the arboricultural sector
in Tunisia faces many biotics and abiotics constraints.
This work is a contribution to the study of some particular pests damaging olive trees culture
(mites Eriophyidae) and other pests related to Plum (Eriophyidae mites and thrips).
Following this work, we could partially determine the composition of the olive
groves acarofaune in the northern region of Tunisia. Two species of Eriophyidae
mites have been identified, Aceria oleae and Oxycenus maxwelli. To these two
phytophagous species, who are strictly related to the olive tree culture, is joined a
rather rich cortège on predatory and other neutrals mites. Among the predatory mites
have been identified the Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) recki species.
Particular attention was accorded as well as to the dynamic of this type of pests
during the study period, and to the intervarietal sensitivity in some olive varieties
(Meski, Koroneiki, Chétoui) to attacks by those mites. This study showed that the
dynamics of populations is closely related to the evolution of host plant phenology.
However, the intervarietal sensitivity appears to be independent of these two
parameters.
Concerning plums culture, two pests have been supported during this study, thrips
(Insecta: Thysanoptera) and Eriophyidae mites (Acari: Eriohyoïdea). Following this
study, we have proceeded to an identification trial as well as to thrips, Eriophyidae
mites and the acarofaune procession associated with this culture. Over this period,
we have identified nine genera of thrips on the plum crop, these are Aeolothrips,
Frankliniella, Gynaikothrips, Limothrips, Leptothrips, Liothrips, Megalurothrips,
Thrips, and individuals belonging to the tribe Chirothripini.
Note that Leptothrips and Aeolothrips genera are predators of mites, and the
genera Limothrips and one belonging to the tribe are Chirothripini graminivorous. Thus the
attacks of thrips on the crop of plums can be attributed to the
Frankliniella, Gynaikothrips, Liothrips, Megalurothrips, and thrips genera.
Regarding the Eriophyidae, one gall mite species, Acalitus phloeocoptes, has been collected
and identified both on the leaves and branch galls. Moreover, we note the presence of another
specimen belonging to the tribe Eriophyini in this culture.
As part of an IPM tries against the two kinds of pests, there have been conducted
chemical interventions against eriophyoïd mites, and biological ones against thrips.
Against both, free and gall mites, we tested the efficiency of three pesticides
(hexythiazox, cyhexatin and tetradifon, abamectin) on mites Eriophyidae.
The analysis results showed that, in spite to the short period of its spectrum of
action, hexythiazox product have a relative efficacy both on free and gall eriophyid
mites.
Against thrips was undertaken to try to mass trapping using blue plates stuck. We
also tested the effectiveness of capsules Kairomone in enhancing the contribution of
this method of control in limiting population of thrips. However, chemical
intervention not provided by the farmer prevents us from valuing or devaluing their
interest in improving this technique.
