62 IMS Special Issue May 2014 T he Microwave Application Semi- nars (MicroApps) will be present- ed at the Tampa Bay Convention Center from Tuesday, 3 June through Thursday, 5 June 2014, in conjunc- tion with the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society International Microwave Symposium (IMS) Exhibi- tion. MicroApps are concise application note techni- cal presentations, about 20 min long, given by ex- hibitors. MicroApps pres- ent the technology behind and unique capabilities of the exhibitor’s commercial products. The seminars are distinct and separate from the technical program yet complement the techni- cal sessions with topics of interest for the micro- wave community. MicroApps provide an opportunity for IMS exhib- itors to demonstrate how their products and tech- nologies are “Powering the Waves” by addressing real- world microwave chal- lenges. MicroApps cover a broad range of engi- neering topics, including new products, noteworthy state-of-the-art components, materials, measurement tools and techniques, and novel manufacturing and design tech- niques incorporating the exhibitor’s lat- est products and technologies. Nearly 80 seminars covering a diverse range of topics that include hardware, software, and test and measurement solutions are planned for Tuesday through Thursday. There will be more than 75 application notes, two keynote addresses, and one panel session. One keynote address will be held on Tuesday, and one keynote and a panel will be held on Wednes- day. Once again this year, admission to the exhibit floor and the MicroApps Seminars will be free on Wednesday, 4 June. This means even more people can take advantage of the special MicroApps activities on Wednesday, including the keynote presentation and the panel session. MicroApps Seminars are open to all interested attendees, thanks to sponsorship by Agilent Technologies. The MicroApps theater is located in Booth 1246, which can be found at the center-rear of the Exhibit Hall within the Conven- tion Center. The complete and up-to-date MicroApps symposium schedule is listed in the IMS Program Book or online at http:// ims2014.mtt.org. A Micro- Apps CD of the presenta- tions will be available to everyone for free, courtesy of Agilent Technologies. Those who are unable to attend in person will also have free access to the information through three outlets: the CD may be ordered from Agilent, the Panel Session can be watched as a Microwave Journal Webcast, and vir- tual presentations can be viewed online at the IEEE TV Web site. Come to MicroApps and immerse yourself in the exciting trajectory of today’s microwave solutions. We look forward to seeing you at the MicroApps theater, Booth 1246 in the Exhibit Hall of the Tampa Bay Con- vention Center.
