L'undesaspectslesplustangiblesdutravaildel'AREIestlesuividel'activitédesprojetsetprogrammesd'énergiesrenouvelablesenAfrique.Ceteffortestcrucialpourlesuividesprogrèsdesobjectifsdel'AREIetrenforceégalementsacapacitéàévaluerlesécartsd'activité-qu'ilssoientgéographiques,sous-sectorielsouentermesdecapacité.Aprèsl'engagementdéfinitifd'unconsultantaxésurlesprojetsle18mai2018,letravaildecompilationetdecartographiedesprojetsprévus,encoursetachevésdanslesecteurdesénergiesrenouvelablessur le terrain (projets de catégorie B) ainsi que des projets, programmes, incitations, réformesréglementaires, renforcement des capacités et autres interventions clés (projets/programmes decatégorieA)aétérepris.Lacartographieet lacompilation initialede laréservedeprojets (detous les typesdeprojets,pasnécessairementattribuablesouconformesà l'AREI)àpartirde2016contenaitenviron442projetsd'unecapacitédeproductiontotaledeplusde60GW,commel'indiqueletableau1ci-dessous.Decenombre,49,4GWontétéattribuésàdesprojetsde catégorieB. Cette listeaétéétabliepardespartenairesinternationauxetnecontenaitquedesinformationslimitéessurchaqueprojet.

L'analysepréliminairequiestmaintenantrepriseetcomplétéeparl'enrichissementetlamiseàjourdes données a clairement montré qu'il existe d'importants déséquilibres régionaux à travers lecontinent,quidevrontêtretraitésenpriorité.
Les régions qui ont le plus besoin d'un accès accru à l'énergie sont celles dont la capacité de production est la plus faible.

� Les pays partenaires internationaux et leurs agences ont été approchés pour unrafraîchissementdeleuractivitédeprojet.CelainclutCanada,UE,France,Allemagne,Italie,Japon,Pays-Bas,Suède,Royaume-Uni,États-Unis.
L'effortserafacilitéparlesconsultationsrégionalesdel'AREI,quipermettrontuneinteractiondirecteavec les points focaux de chaque pays. En plus d'une simple liste de projets et d'interventionspolitiquespossibles,cettecartographieclarifieralesprioritésdupays,lesstadesdedéveloppementduprojet,lasituationfinancièreetd'autresdonnéespertinentesduprojet.Etantdonnéquelepipelineseraaffinéaucoursdesprochainsmois,l'AREIseraenmesured'évaluerl'ensembledeslacunes,destendancesetdeszones/régionsquipourraientavoirbesoind'attentionpourassurerunéquilibrecontinentalraisonnable.Lesformulairesd'enquêtepourlesprojetsdescatégoriesAetBainsiqu'uneenquêteéconomiquederéférencequiontétéformulésetutilisésdanslecadredesactivitésactuellesdesensibilisationdespaysafricainsetdespartenairesinternationauxsontfournisenannexe.
