Article abstract

Cosmology, Persan, and Artistic Expression in the AustralianWestern DésertThe author analyses the System of graphiereprésentations of the Australian Western Désert and the wayit intrinsically links the human beings, the land and theancestors. The présentation of the polysémie and contextualvalue of the images and of their modalities of access bringsforth the praxis of the actors, on a personal and collectivelevel. The spatio-temporal reinterpretation of the mytho-ritualreferents of such images gives évidence of their dimension of "openness ". The large production of images that dérives fromthe récent introduction of acrylic on canvas must as well beconsidered.
