SQMMAIRE
Un leve pedoge'ochimique a ete" realise par le Groupe Conseil DOZ inc. sur la propriete Cairo de Ressources Kimex inc. Gette propriete est situee a une dizaine de kilometres au nord-est de la municipalite de Matachewan (voir figure 1)
La figure 2 montre la forme et la geologic de la propriete". Ce leve avait pour but de determiner la localisation des mineralisations auriferes.
Le leve pedoge'ochimique execute en octobre 1987 a procure 266 echantillons d'hurius. Les e'chant i l Ions ont ete analyses pour 18 elements par I.N.A.A. et Cu par A. A. Un traitement de base a e'te' applique, les seuils anomaliques et les matrices de correlation ont et6 calcules. De plus, une carte de multi-
et une carte de ponderation pour l ' pr ont ete tracees.
Ces resultats ont permis d* interpreter deux groupes d'activites g^ochimiques auriferes en direction nord-sud et est- ouest. Ces axes n'ont pas une orientation semblable aux axes d'anomalies en chrome et arsenic sur la carte multi-elements indiquant probablement des dykes mafiques et des structures. Gette relation suggere que la mineralisation est precoce et les intrusions representent un e'venement tardif.
Les axes d'activites geochimiques pour le zinc se trouve en bordure du groupe de Cobalt. Us peuvent e"tre dus aux sediments de cobalt ou a des structures.
Les recommendations suivantes sont sugge~re"es:
1- Un echant illonnage des zones d'inte"rfct avec une maille plus serree (50 metres x 100 metres ou 50 metres x 50 metres ) .
2- Un echantillonnage de quelques lignes dans le groupe de Cobalt pour determiner si les anomalies du zinc sont associes avec les sediments (cobalt) ou le socle crystallin .
3- Les trous de forage sont a 3+50S, 4+OOW (axe C sur la carte de ponderation).

I INTRODUCTION
A la demaride des Ressources Kimex inc., le Groupe Conseil Doz inc. a effectue un leve pedogeochimique (humus) sur la propriete Cairo.
La re"colte d'echantillons d'humus a ete" effectuee a tous les 75 metres sur des lignes coupees a 100 metres d*intervalle. Ceci a procure 266 Echantillons au total.
Le but du leve est la localisation des mineralisations auriferes. Ces mineralisations consistent en un roseau de veines de quartz auriferes et de structures en direction nord-sud. Le leve nous permettra de localiser ces structures et de confirmer celles qui sont auriferes.
Nous presentons, tout d'abord, une description du terrain, topographic et vegetation, ensuite, nous voyons le traitement statistique utilise et finalement les resultats.
1.1 LOCALISATION ET ACCES
La propriete Cairo est situee dans le canton Cairo, a une dizaine de kilometres au nord-est de la municipal ite" de Matachewan (voir figure 1). L'acces y est facile a partir de Rouyn-Noranda en empruntant la route pavee 117 nord jusqu'a la frontiere ontarienne, qui devient la route 66 en Ontario pour environ 140 kilometres.
La ligne de base traverse la route a environ 0.5 kilometre a 1'ouest du pont qui traverse un ruisseau qui coule vers le lac St-Paul (voir figure 2). A environ 0.4 kilometre a 1'ouest de la ligne de base, on trouve un chemin en gravier a droite de la route 66. En emprutant ce chemin, on rencontre une ligne coupee en direction est-ouest qui traverse le chemin b 3 .75 kilometres au nord de la route 66. En prenant cette ligne vers 1'est, on peut se rendre aux coordonnes 8+OOW, 1+25N de la grille.
1.2 GfiOLOGIE GENERALE
La propriete est essentiellement constitute de syenite rosee traversee par des veinules de quartz contenant parfois des quantites mineures de pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galene, barite, or et argent.

1.2 GBOLOGIE GENERALE (suite)
Un affleurement observe' sur la 10 + 00, 5 + 25W consiste en une syenite rose"e grenue (0.5 a 0.8 cm) composee de feldspath potassique (90&), amphibole vert fonce (9*), et quartz (l*). L'affleurement etait coupe" par une veinule de quartz de 2.5 centimetre d'epaisseur avec une orientation de 290 0 X80 0 .
L'indice a LO+00 pres de la ligne de base est compose d'une veine de quartz 30 a 50 centimetres d'epaisseur avec une orientation de 240 0 / 90 0 . La chalcopyrite est presente dans les microfractures. La galene ( l*) e t la fluorite (130 remplissent les cavites presentes dans le quartz. Les bordures de la veine sont composees de la syenite cisaillee parallelement a la direction de la veine.
La partie sud de la propriete" est partiellement couverte par les sediments du groupe de Cobalt. Us ne sont pas consideres importants pour la mineralisation recherchee et cette region n'a pas et6 echanti llonnee.

II ECHANTILLONNAGE
La recolte d'e"chantillons d'humus a e"te" effectuee sur les lignes couples 2 N a 26 S a tous les 75 metres selon un patron en quinconce. Dans l'impossibility d'une prise d'e"chantillons a 1'endroit prevu, celle-ci pouvait tout de mfeme se faire jusqu'a la moitie de la distance entre deux e"chant illons, soit 37 metres sur les lignes et 50 metres entre elles.
La portion du sol Echantillonnee (podzol) repre"sente 1'horizon A (humus) ou un melange Ao-Ai, et la technique utilised consiste a recuellir la couche d'humus dans un sac de plastique, afin d'empe'cher toute contamination entre chaque echantillon. Une fois recoltee, cette portion de sol est deposee dans un sac de papipr (Kraft) concu a c et effet. Ce sac est ensuite iden- tifie par un code correspondant a celui des carnets de terrain a 1'aide d'une feutre indelebile. Le sac de papier ainsi rempli est alors insere dans le sac de plastique qui a servi a la recolte. Par la suite, le site de chaque echantillonnage est identifie a 1'aide d'un ruban portant le meme code que celui des ^chantillons, ainsi que le numero de l'6chantillonneur.
L' e~chantillonneur doit ensuite inscrire au carnet de terrain les principales caracteristiques du site qui serviront ulte"rieu- rement au traitement des donn^es.

III.l RELIEF
Le relief principal de la grille consiste en des pentes descendantes vers le petit lac Cameroon qui est traverse par la ligne 0 + 00 et le ruisseau innonde" qui coule du lac Cameroon vers le lac St-Paul.

III.2 RESEAU HYDROGRAPHIQUE
Le terrain est en general draine" a bien draine. Le lac Cameroon coule dans une zone innondee qui est drainee par le ruisseau qui coule vers le sud. Les pentes de la propriete" sont dirige's vers ce ruisseau qui est innonde par endroits par des barrages de castors.
III.3 VEGETATION
En general la fore"t est mixte, de densite^ moyenne, compre- nant des epinettes, des pins gris, des trembles, des bouleaux et des sapins. La litiere est composee principalement de feuilles et d'aiguilles mortes.
En descendant les "escaliers" a 1'ouest du lac Cameron, on rencontre quelques petites forfets d'^pinettes avec une couche de mousse verte (sphaigne). Ces endroits sont mal draines.

En approchant des zones innonde'es, la vegetation se compose de foin. On trouve du sol de type podzol presque partout sur la propriety. Ceci est ide"al pour cette region. L'humus est noir, bien defini et possede un epaisseur de l a 5 centimetres.

IV RESULTATS
On trouve les donnees brutes en annexe. Elles comprennent 19 elements chimiques analyses par I.N.A.A. sauf pour le Cu par A.A. ainsi que ]es donnees de terrain. Les resultats d'analyses sont trait^s en deux volets soit, les statistiques de base et les cartes interpretatives.
IV.l STATISTIQUES DE BASE
Les statistiques de base comprennent: la moyenne, l'e"cart- type, le 92e percentile, la matrice de correlation simple et le tableau des seuils anomaliques. Dans le traitement qui suit, une valeur fixee a la moitie du seuil de detection a ete attribute aux elements non-detectes par analyse chimique dans un echanti lIon.
Les moyennes, les ecarts-types et le 92e percentile de la grille sont represented au tableau 1. L'or a une moyenne de 4,42 ppb. Le barium a une moyenne de 522 ppm. Gette moyenne elevee reflete les feldspaths potassiques qui composent la syenite trouvee sur la propriete. Les donnees de terrain indiquent generalement un terrain draine a bien draine, une foret mixte de densite raoyenne dont l' humus est noir et d'e'paisseur O a 5 centimetres avec une quantite de mineraux de O a 2 *.
I V.l.l SEUILS ANOMALIQUES
Un seuil anomalique indique le point au-dessus duquel une valeur representant un enrichissement des elements dans l'humus cause the"oriquement par une concentration dans le socle. Les seuils anomaliques sont diffe'rentes d'une region a une autre et peuvent legerement varier sur une meme propriete dependamment de multiples facteurs tels que: 1'epaisseur du mort-terrain, la topographic, la saison, etc.
Pour construire les cartes multi-elements, nous nous servirons d'une valeur situee entre la moyenne et le seuil anomalique des elements. Ceci nous permet de mieux voir les zones anomaliques. Pour les cartes de ponderation, nous nous servirons des seuils anomaliques calcule"es (tableau 2).

La matrice de correlation simple permet de choisir elements chimiques associes a 1'or et de determiner si influences de terrain agissent sur les resultats d'analyses.
On remarque qu'il existe une correlation positive entre le brome et les endroits nml draines contenant une couche d'humus relativement epaisse (5 a 15 cm). II n'y a pas d'autre correlation simple significative entre les donnees de terrain et le reste d'616ments analyses.

II existe deux groupes d'e'lements soit celui qui est correle avec 1'or (groupe 1), et celui correle' faiblement a negativement avec 1'or (groupe 2).
1- Au, Sb, As, Br et Ni.
2- Zn, Cd, Ni, Cr, As, Br et Cu.
Le groupe l a etc determine en utilisant la matrice de correlation I.N.A.A. (Au ) 2,5 ppb).
Le groupe 2 a etd d^termine^ avec la matrice de correlation I.N.A.A. Gette association contient des elements qui sont associes au zinc qui lui-meme montre une correlation negative avec 1'or.

IV.2 LES CARTES
Dans ce rapport, nous presentons deux types de cartes: multi-elements et ponderation de 1'or. La carte multi-616ments sert a connaltre quels elements sont associes aux anomalies et distinguer, si possible, le type de mineralisation qu'elles representent. La carte de ponderation de l'or represente les zones intenses d'activites geochimiques relives h 1 'or. Les contours plus eleves indiquent les structures ou lithologies favorables a la mineralisation aurifere. Le traitement applique sur ces cartes ne fera pas necessairement passer une ligne de contour autour d'une valeur ^levee en or. A cheque site d'echantillonnage, une valeur ponderee est recalculee en fonction des seuils anomaliques des elements indicateurs d'or choisis par la matrice de correlation simple.
La carte multi-elements (plan numero l en cinq (5) elements soit: Au, As, Ba, Gr et ponderation de 1'or (plan numero elements avec des poids affectes

Dans le tableau 2, le seuil anomalique pour le barium est de 188,67 ppm. Celui-ci est un seuil infe"rieur (le contraire d'un seuil anomalique conventionnel pour le barium est de 972,60 ppm). Nous avons attribue un poids de l pour le barium a chaque site d* echantillonnage ou la teneur du barium a e"te inferieure a 188,67 ppm. La ponderation du zinc represente des endroits enrichis en Zn, Ni, As, Cd, Gr, Br, Cu et de"pourvu en barium. Les endroits enrichis en barium representent la syenite fralche.

V INTERPRETATION
L' interpretation tient compte des zones d'activite"s g6ochimiques decouvertes sur la propriete.
Sur la carte multi-elements (carte en pochette), on remarque que les anomalies en chrome et arsenic sont alignees aux directions nord-sud (axes l, 2, 4, 5, 6) (340 0 ) et nord-est (axes 3, 7 et 8).
Le chrome qua est souvent pre"sente dans les roches riches en mineraux ferromagnesien represente des intrusions (dykes) mafiques orientes selon les directions mentionnees. le barium n'est pas abondantdans les axes riches en chrome ou arsenic, on considere les anomalies de barium comme etant situees au-dessus de la syenite fralche. Les appauvrissements du barium avec les anomalies de I'arsenic reflete des structures (cisaillement).
De plus, on remarque un enrichissement en zinc entourant le contact entre la syenite et le groupe du Cobalt a la partie sud- est de la propriete.
Les zones d'activites geochimiques pour le zinc (tableau 4) sont aussi pr^semtees dans la carte de ponderation pour 1'or. Les trois zones sont autour du groupe de Cobalt. Les axes Z-2 et Z-3 possedent des orientations de 90 6 et 450 respectivement et representent probablement des structures enrichies en zinc et ces elements associes.
Les zones et axes d'activites geochimiques pour 1'or (voir carte de ponderation en pochette) sont presented dans le tableau 3.
On remarque une grande zone d'activites geochimiques pour 1'or dans la partie nord-ouest de la proprie'te'. Les orientations des axes dans cette region sont nord-sud et est-ouest.
Les anomalies E et El semblent constituer un axe d'activites geochimiques de direction nord-sud.

Les axes d'activites g^ochimiques auriferes ne correspondent pas avec les structures et intrusions indiques par des enrichissements en arsenic et chrome respectivement. N^anmoins, on remarque que les axes ont des orientations similaires a ceux du chrome dans le secteur nord-ouest de la propriete".
Les relations mentionn^es suggerent que la mineralisation aurifere est precoce. Les dykes mafiques et les structures sont des evenements tardifs qui ont caus6 l'appauvrissement de barium et possiblement une remobilisation limit^e de la mineralisation.

VI CONCLUSIONS ET RECOMMANDATIONS
Nous avons determine que la propriete Cairo renferme huit (8) zones d'activit^s geochimiques auriferes. Ces zones se manifestent generalement sous forme d'axes ayant une orientation nord-sud a est-ouest.
Nous avons determine que le chrome et l'arsenic forme des anomalies alignees nord-sud a 45 0 et representent des dykes mafiques et des structures.
Les axes d'activites g^ochimiques auriferes sont precoces et ne sont pas associes avec les phenomenes indiques par le chrome et l'arsenic.
Les regions d'activites geochimiques pour le zinc se trouvent aux bordures du groupe de Cobalt. Les axes 2 et 3 ont des orientations de 90 0 et 45 0 respectivement et suggerent la presence des structures.
Nous recommandons:
1- Un reechanti llonnage des zones d'inter^t avec une maille de 50 metres x 100 metres ou plus etroit.
2- Echantillonnage de quelques lignes dans le groupe de Cobalt pour determiner sa signature g^ochimique. Avec celle-ci, on peut determiner si les anomalies du zinc sont associees avec le groupe de Cobalt ou du soclecryltallin.
3- Un trou de forage a 3+50S, 4+OOW (axe C sur la carte de ponderation) .
